The Gem I found in Arambol - The Film Maker

Winter of 2021, Arambol . I was sitting in a cafe surrounded by jungle , Nice coffee good wooden table . I was editing my photographs one after another,No time to look up. Then suddenly I realize someone is editing videos beside me. No courage to talk at first i kept silent. But looking at the videos I asked her "Are you a v viv vi Videographer ?" . "Film Maker" - She replied.

Hands inside water holding stone

Ever since Hrutika Has been a true friend and an amazing teammate. Though I know very little about her past and so called the "entry" into an Art field . Her personal touch to her Art is very new and fresh to me. What I have observed is , her writings about herself , her experiences and surrounding give very strange power to her visuals. We float in her journey as she takes us ahead.

As a filmmaker from Pune, she has been actively involved in creating short videos, documentaries, narrative, and non-narrative experiential films for about a decade. Her preferred genres revolve around the poetic and non-narrative realms, showcasing a deep passion for visually expressive storytelling. Her initiative 'The Open Diary' , When I asked her about it why 'The Open Diary'. She explained that "I named it the open diary, because I wanted to make honest expressive films with no limitations or boundaries as to what I can express. It comes out of the need to be completely free, brutally honest in my film making approach."

In Hrutika's world, art isn't just about the final product—it's about the journey, the stories - behind the scenes and the emotions captured in each clip. It's a testament to her ability to connect not just visually but on a deeper, more personal level. When I started exploring her work , It was a journey never ending.

Two people lying in a water

Though all her work is different from each other yet you get know something is toeing them together. Hrutika's non-narrative experimental films are pure bliss. They strike a perfect balance between two parallel universes, blending the everyday with the surreal in a mesmerizing dance of contrasts. From the very beginning to the closing credits, her films feel like a turbulent ocean. Each frame is like a wave, carrying you through a journey filled with ups and downs, moments of calm reflection, and bursts of raw emotions. Its the kind of experience that leaves you feeling both grounded in reality and swept away by the magic of imagination—a testament to Hrutika's ability to craft visuals that resonate on profound levels.

In person , I have hardly found a friend who is free as much as her yet bound to the responsibility and not just the personal responsibility but of her Art too. She embodies a rare balance of freedom and responsibility, both in life and art. She finds joy in the creative process itself, making her a reliable friend and a source of inspiration for embracing life's journey over focusing solely on outcomes. Dependable and genuine, she's a steadfast companion in both life and creativity.
