The Nomad Architect

Updated: Apr 21, 2024

In Mumbai, amidst towering buildings, I worked alongside the renowned photographer Mr. Prasad Naik. Despite the fulfilling work, my living situation was cramped in the Mhada Society. Desperate for space, I opted for a backpacker hostel in Colaba, sharing a room with seven others. It was there that I met Mohsin. Party freak / Architect.

We stayed there for a year, crashing every party we found on weekends. Weekday evenings were more productive, spent sharing thoughts on designs mostly. His views on life are the purest I've ever encountered—a perfect balance of life is what Mohsin is all about, at least for me.

Where we really connected was through music. Our shared love for music brought us close together. We used to listen to Pink Floyd for hours in the hostel. The progressiveness of the music helped us a lot in our respective fields.

Although I wasn't actively shooting at that time, I took a lot of inputs from Mohsin on various photographs, artists, and projects.

Mohsin takes his inspiration from nature and incorporates it into his art. It's really hard to separate him from nature when discussing his art. 'Traveling opens up your horizons,' he always says. Meeting new people gives you knowledge of the world you've never experienced. After traveling almost the whole country, Mohsin shifted to Goa—the perfect place for him to thrive. He works as an architect and interior designer, focusing on exclusive hospitality projects such as vacation homes, clubs, and restaurants. You can truly see the uniqueness of his art when you see it—minimalism, sustainability, and organic elements define his style.

When asked what he brings to the table, Mohsin confidently replied, 'Minimalism, sustainability, and organic elements.' His design philosophy embodies these principles, weaving them seamlessly into his architectural and interior projects.

The post-Covid boom in Goa has brought about a flurry of construction activities. Amidst this growth, there's a growing awareness of the need for organic and sustainable living solutions. Mohsin and professionals like him are at the forefront of this movement, working tirelessly to implement eco-friendly practices and innovative design concepts.

Their work goes beyond aesthetics; it's about creating spaces that harmonize with nature, promote wellness, and reduce environmental impact. Mohsin's vision extends to crafting spaces that not only inspire but also reflect a commitment to a greener future.

As the demand for sustainable living grows, these individuals become real heroes, influencing the built environment positively. Through their hands-on approach and dedication to sustainable design, they are shaping a community that values environmental stewardship and embraces a more conscious way of living.

With sustainability in one hand, Mohsin is also a 3D visualizer. Despite working side by side with technology, you can spot many natural elements in his designs. His favorites are adding cats and dogs, I feel :). It's hard to find people like Mohsin who stay true to their passion amidst whatever the trend is. See you soon in Goa Mohsin ........
